About Fissile Zero Futures

The project focuses on reducing risks from fissile material with the ultimate objective of a “fissile zero future” – that is, a future in which weapons-usable fissile material no longer poses risks of proliferation (vertical or horizontal) or from nuclear terrorism because it has been minimized or eliminated. This project seeks to develop and promote norms in the areas of transparency in nuclear weapon states on fissile material, naval nuclear fuel, and civilian plutonium.   This project was possible through the generous support of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
